3Where the margin money went
Margin trading (MTF) means buying shares with money borrowed from your broker. The total borrowed book tells you how much leveraged money is in the market.
Under MTF, investors buy shares with part of their own money and part borrowed from their broker, paying interest on the loan. If prices fall, brokers ask for more margin, and positions that aren't topped up get sold. A shrinking book can mean traders are cutting risk on their own, which is orderly. A fast fall during a price drop usually means forced selling.
